WAC 2017 Win a composition

International Video-Competition for Mixed Choirs

After the great success of the WAC 2015 and 2016 for women's and male choirs the "AS Musikverlag (Tholey/Saar)" and the Composer Alwin Michael Schronen organize once again this extraordinary competition in 2017:

The international Video-Competition WAC Contest 2017 for MIXED CHOIRS.

In the international Video Competition 2017 for MIXED CHOIRS you can win a very special prize: a new a cappella composition of Alwin Michael Schronen dedicated to the winner and specifically tailored to the choir. There is also an Audience Award.

How it works: A MIXED CHOIR sings a given choral work of SCHRONEN. There are three difficulty levels, each with a choral work in a low, medium and in a high difficulty level. The choir must record the choral work on video and upload it to YouTube. The composer and the 13-member high-profile international jury (USA, Japan, Netherlands, Germany) determine the winners among all the videos.

The Composer Alwin Michael Schronen organize in collaboration with "AS Musikverlag (Tholey/Saar)" an extraordinary competition in 2015: An international Video-Competition for Treble and Women's Choirs.

In this international Video Competition for Treble and Women's Choirs you can win a very special prize: a new a cappella composition of Alwin Michael Schronen dedicated to the winner and specifically tailored to the choir. There is also an Audience Award.

How it works: A Treble or Women's Choir sings a given choral work of SCHRONEN. There are two difficulty levels, each with a choral work in a medium difficulty level and in a high difficulty level. The choir must record the choral work on video and upload it to YouTube.

The composer and the 10-member high-profile international jury (USA, Japan, Netherlands, Philippines, Germany) determine the winners among all the videos.

March 28, 2015, 20.00-22.00 clock: Slovenia, Sveti Anton, Koper, DVORANA ZADRU'NEGA DOMA SV. ANTON: Slovenian premiere of the composition "O sacrum convivium" in a concert of the Slovenian male choir "Primorski Academski zbor Vinko Vodopivec" under the direction of Iztok Kocen.

April 05, 2015 (Easter Day), 10.00 clock in the Church "St. Blasius/St. Martinus" in Saarwellingen / Germany: Performance of Missa Argentina with Project Choir. Choir director : Eric Paul.

April 06-11, 2015: "Bad Feilnbacher choir week" (organized by the Bavarian Choral Association ) / Germany: 2 compositions of Schronen : "God has Commanded" (Psalm 91.11 to 12 ) (rehearsals by Jürgen Fassbender ) and "Te Deum" (rehearsals by Martin Winkler ) - Great concert on April 10, 2015 with these two works.

11 and 12 April 2015: Two concerts of the "Ensemble Vocapella Limburg " under the direction of Tristan Meister: April 11, 2015, 19.30 clock in the Liebfrauenkirche in Frankfurt am Main / Germany; April 12, 2015, 19.30 clock in the cath. April 18, 2015, 19.30 clock: Dom Limburg / Germany: concert of the male chamber choir "Cantabile Limburg" (Conductor: Jürgen Fassbender): Premiere of the composition "Stars II" (male choir and overtone singing).

May 14-18, 2015: "Canta Rode International Choir Festival 2015" in Kerkrade / Netherlands . 3 Compositions as compulsory choral works: "Ave verum" (mixed choir), "To the Moon / Moon" (women's choir), "O Sacrum Convivium" (men's choir). All three works will be heard in the first competition round on Friday, May 15, 2015, from 14.00 clock.

May 16 and 17, 2015: "Master choir singing NRW": In "Lennestadt/Altenhundem" in the "Sauerlandhalle" / Germany: Compulsory choral work in the category "male's choir - modernism": "Veni Creator Spiritus". Within the competition: performance of the composition "Magnificat" by "MGV Lyra Rückershausen" (Conductor: Michael Blume).

May 30, 2015: Festival and Competition "Musica Sacra" in Rockenberg-Oppershofen / Germany: Within the contest: Premiere of the composition "Tantum ergo" with "Cantilena Überherrn" (Conductor: Marita Grasmück-Fetik).

Novembre 07, 2015: Wiesbaden / Germany: World premiere of the commissioned composition "Wessobrunner prayer" for male choir, Upper choir, piano and string quintet by the "Men's Chamber Choir Wiesbaden-Sonnenberg" under the direction of Holger Wittgenstein.

Slovenian choir sings composition of Schronen " O Sacrum Convivium " on March 28, 2015

On March 28, 2015, the Slovenian premiere of the composition " O Sacrum Convivium " in a concert of the Slovenian male choir " Primorsky Academski zbor Vinko Vodopivec " will be heard under the direction of Iztok Kocen .

Location: Slovenia , Sveti Anton , Koper , DVORANA ZADRU'NEGA DOMA SV . ANTON

Time: Saturday, March 28, 2015 , 20.00-22.00 clock

The composition " O sacrum convivium " is one of three compulsory choral works at the "International Choir Festival Canta Rode 2015" in Kerkrade, to which the choir has qualified.

Background information:
Slovenia (Slovenija ) is a country in Central Europe bordering Italy, Austria, Hungary, Croatia and the Adriatic Sea. The country was on May 1, 2004 as one of the ten accession countries, a Member State of the European Union. Capital of Slovenia is Ljubljana (centrally located).


Composition of SCHRONEN in the USA

Composition "Power of Nature" in Hillsdale Michigan

Robert A. Livingston, director of the Hillsdale Wind Symphony Orchestra was so fascinated by the composition "Power of Nature" that he has arranged in consultation with Alwin Michael Schronen for his orchestra.

On Christmas concert on December 12, 2014 in Markel Auditorium in the "Sage Center for the Performing Arts" at Hillsdale College in Hillsdale Michigan can you hear the composition "Power of Nature" by Schronen in the world premiere of Symphony-Orchestra.

Robert A. Livingston is a conductor, educator and musician in the state of Michigan in the United States. He studied music education at Northern Michigan University and went on to earn a Master's degree in Wind Conducting from Michigan State University. He has taught and conducted at many high schools and colleges in Michigan, often succeeding in drastically growing the number of members and bettering the quality of the programs by leaps and bounds. His most recent endeavor was to introduce and develop a successful string orchestra program at a private school in Michigan!

Mr. Livingston has worked closely with well-known composers and conductors such as Daniel Bukvich, H. Robert Reynolds, John Madden, and Max Plank. He has taken on the challenge of transcribing numerous choral pieces for wind band, including Mr. Schronen's "Light and Love" and "Power of Nature," with
great success.

Since 2002, the Hillsdale Wind Symphony, which Mr. Livingston founded and still leads, has grown from 6 to over 60 members. Together, the Wind Symphony has tackled the music of Holst, Grainger, Bernstein, Mackey,Ticheli, Whitacre, and many others. Over the years, under Mr. Livingston's direction, the Hillsdale Wind Symphony has grown musically, displaying an increased maturity and confidence with every performance. This group of amateurs, educators, students, and professionals embodies of the spirit of a true musical community.

Robert A. Livingston has already arranged more works by Schronen for his orchestra, which he will premiere next year.

He is in close contact with Alwin Michael Schronen.


Composition of SCHRONEN in the Philippines

"GLORIA" for 8stg. mixed choir on 09 November 2014 at the Festival Musica Sacra

On 09 November 2014 will take place the festival "Musica Sacra" in Pasig City(Venue Tanghalang Pasigenio ) at 19.30 clock (local time).

On this festival the choir "Chorus Vocales Philippines" will sing the composition "GLORIA" by Alwin Michael Schronen.

Choirmaster is Renier Aguilar, who is in close contact with Alwin Michael Schronen.
